Surgery
Traumatology and orthopedics

Diagnosis and treatment of traumatic injuries, congenital or acquired problems in bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons, organs that allow the body to perform any movement.

COLUMN INSTRUMENTATION

There are different types of operations, depending on the element of the spine and its condition.

The objective of lumbar instrumentation and decompression is to stabilize the spine and eliminate the tissue or structures that are compressing the nerve or nerves.

Lumbar instrumentation is a procedure that consists of fusing and limiting movements between two or more vertebrae. It is indicated when there is instability and pain. We indicate it in: traumatic spinal injuries, spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis.

DISCOIDECTOMY

This surgery is to remove a spinal disc or part of it.

Discs are the elements that support and act as shock absorbers in the spine.

It is usually performed when the disc in question has slipped out of place, which is commonly known as herniating.

When this happens, the gel inside the disc pushes through the walls of the disc and ends up pressing on the spinal cord and nerves.

JOINT REPLACEMENT WITH KNEE PROSTHESIS

This is surgery to replace a knee joint with an artificial joint. This artificial joint is called a prosthesis. It may be required after a serious knee injury.

Fractures of the bones surrounding the knee or tears of the knee ligaments can damage the joint cartilage over time, causing pain and limiting function. The results of a total knee replacement are often excellent.

TOTAL HIP PROSTHESIS JOINT REPLACEMENT

Total hip replacement or total hip arthroplasty (also known as joint replacement surgery) consists of replacing the damaged joint with a prosthetic joint that allows you to perform all your activities without pain or discomfort.

¿Is it risky? Primary total hip replacement performed by our team of highly specialized doctors is done using a minimally invasive technique, with a low overall risk of complications of less than 5%.

ADVANCED OSTEOSYNTHESIS

Osteosynthesis is a reconstructive surgery aimed at stabilising and joining the ends of a broken bone after a fracture, osteotomy or non-union in cases of a previous fracture.

Once the bone fragments are stabilised, the implant (plates, nails, screws) can be removed or left in place, if the process was done by internal fixation.

ARTHROSCOPIC MENISCOPLASTY

The important role played by the meniscus in load transmission, shock absorption and cartilage nutrition is well known, so preserving it through meniscal repair is of utmost importance.

It is a surgical technique performed by arthroscopy, that is, through small incisions in the knee, the aim is to repair the meniscus instead of removing it.
